ALL DIRT ROADS: The Journey To World Finals Hits Halfway

All dirt roads lead to the World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in November.

Since the beginning of the year, the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series, World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series presented by DIRTVision, and the Super DIRTcar Series have been on that cross-country journey, bringing big events and their championship battle state to state.

In the first six months of the 2025 season, there have been edge-of-your-seat battles, first-time winners, heartbreak, redemption, and races that some might already rank as “race of the year.” And there are still five months to go.

Here’s a look at some of the top moments for each Series, so far, this year, and what’s still to come before they converge on The Dirt Track at Charlotte for the season’s epic finale, Nov. 5-8.

World of Outlaws Sprint Cars

•What’s happened:
The first 38 races of the 2025 season for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series have taken the tour to 16 different states and 23 different tracks, producing 13 different winners.

Reigning champion and currently Series points leader, David Gravel, has put together a season that’s destined for history with 10 wins, 32 top fives, and only one finish outside the top 10, so far. That’s led to his current 184-point lead over Michael “Buddy” Kofoid as he and Big Game Motorsports chase their second straight title.

Kofoid, in his sophomore season, has been stealing headlines as of late, claiming big dollar paydays, including his second straight Huset’s High Bank Nationals score. His $250,000 win made him the third driver in history to win two six-figure payouts in one week.

Bill Balog entered the season with one Series win, which came in 2016. Now, he has three after impressive performances at the Talladega Short Track and Huset’s Speedway. He’ll enter the second half of the season on the best run of his career with six straight top-10 finishes, including four top-five finishes.

The 2025 group of Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year contenders have all had their moment in the sun at some point this season, putting together several strong finishes. Chris Windom leads the chase for the Rookie of the Year battle, currently 24 points ahead of Garet Williamson. Windom and Conner Morrell have garnered the best finish of the group, so far, with both scoring runner-up finishes. However, Morrell was eight laps away from his first career win at during the Series’ grand return to Canada at Ohsweken Speedway before being passed by David Gravel.

•What’s to come:
There are nearly 40 races left on the 2025 schedule, spanning 16 different states, including seven states the Series has yet to visit this year.

The Series’ return to Deer Creek Speedway for the first time since 2017 is up first on Thursday, July 10. That’ll springboard the tour through some of the biggest events of the year, such as the 42nd Kings Royal, Ironman 55, NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals, California Swing, National Open, and the Jason Johnson Classic before ending the season at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

Along the way will also be a few more rounds against the Pennsylvania Posse, the Series’ lone stop in New York at Weedsport Speedway, the Series’ first time back at Vado Speedway Park since 2022, the Series’ first time back at Millstream Speedway in over 30 years, the Series’ first time back at New Jersey’s New Egypt Speedway since 2017, and many more high-profile events.

World of Outlaws Late Models

•What’s happened:
Of the three Series, the World of Outlaws Late Model has one of the biggest headlines in the first half of the 2025 season with the welcoming of Real American Beer as the Series’ new title sponsor.

The Hulk Hogan co-owned company joined the Series during one of its most exciting seasons yet with 11 different winners in the first 21 races.

Ryan Gustin opened the season with a win during DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park. But once the Series left Florida, 2023 Series champion Bobby Pierce started his trek toward the top of the points standings with back-to-back wins at Smoky Mountain Speedway and Swainsboro Raceway.

One of the first viral moments of the season came during the Illini 100 opener at Farmer City Raceway, where Ethan Dotson held off the likes of Ricky Thornton Jr. to win his first career World of Outlaws event. And he’s not the only rookie to score their first win in the first half of 2025. Dotson’s closer friend Drake Troutman earned his first career win during the St. Louis Firecracker Faceoff at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park.

Teamed with Boom Briggs this season, Tim McCreadie has found new life and returned to his winning ways. He earned his first World of Outlaws win since 2021 at Raceway 7 and kept the momentum going with victories at Bedford Speedway and Nodak Speedway.

Pierce has the most Series wins, so far, with five and holds a 78-point lead over Nick Hoffman. But Hoffman isn’t letting him run away with the title just yet, as he’s caught fire recently, picking up back-to-back wins at River Cities Speedway and Norman County Raceway, bringing his win total to three so far – he had five in total in 2024.

•What’s to come:
The biggest races of the Series’ schedule, and for Super Late Model racing, fill the rest of the 2025 season.

First is the NAPA Gopher 50 at Deer Creek Speedway, July 3-5, paying $50,000 to the winner. Then, there’s the Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury Speedway, paying $50,000 to win – plus $100 for every lap led in the Feature – the USA Nationals at Cedar Lake Speedway, paying a historic $100,000 to win, the World of Outlaws Bayou Classic at Boothill Speedway, paying $50,000 to win, and the World of Outlaws World Finals, which boasts a nearly $230,000 combined purse.

In total, 27 races remain at 16 different tracks. Several of which pay $15,000 or $20,000 to win, and are part of the Coltman Farms Racing Cup, which pays out $10,000 at the end of the season.

Super DIRTcar Series

•What’s happened:
The Super DIRTcar Series came out swinging to start its 2025 season, producing four different winners in the first four races. And once the Series left Florida, the excitement didn’t stop there.

L.J. Lambardo scored a surprise win at Albany-Saratoga Speedway to claim his second career Super DIRTcar Series win, and first since 2022. The trend continued with Ryan Godown earning his second career win at Big Diamond Speedway, also his first since 2022.  And then, in his 75th try with the Series, Mario Clair earned his first career Super DIRTcar Series win at Cornwall Motor Speedway after a 100-lap side-by-side battle with Dalton Slack.

Career highlights were also earned by the biggest names in the sport, with Stewart Friesen picking up his 50th career win at Selinsgrove Speedway and Matt Sheppard earning his 99th career win at Thunder Mountain Speedway – his 100th will make him the second driver in Series history to reach that mark, alongside Brett Hearn.

Friesen and Clair are also the first two drivers to earn a guaranteed starting spot in Super DIRT Week 53’s Billy Whittaker Cars 200.

What’s to come:
Twenty races remain on the 2025 schedule, and each is just as big as the next.

There are three more stops planned at Weedsport Speedway. The first is the Hall of Fame 100, July 26, which helps round out the Empire State Challenge weekend with the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars. The second helps kick off the 2025 edition of SummerFAST, bringing the speedweek event to four straight nights of racing. And the final is the during the Cavalcade Cup weekend, Sept. 6.

SummerFAST continues to grow each year, becoming a driver and fan-favorite event. This year, the week schedule consists of Weedsport on Sunday, Aug. 17, Brewerton Speedway on Monday, Aug. 18, Land of Legends Raceway on Tuesday, Aug. 19, and Fulton Speedway on Wednesday, Aug. 20.

After a successful trip to Cornwall Motor Speedway, which saw a packed house, the Super DIRTcar Series has another Canadian trip planned at the end of July with two straight nights of racing Autodromme Drummond, in Quebec, followed by a return to Brockville Ontario Speedway – the first of two stops at the Ontario track this year.

New to the schedule this year, the Series will make its long-awaited return to Sharon Speedway for a $10,000-to-win event on Monday, Aug. 11.

Of the 20 remaining races, 12 pay $10,000 or more to win, and eight of them are Super DIRT Week Qualifiers – locking drivers into the Billy Whittaker Cars 200.

For the 53rd running of Super DIRT Week, it’ll now pay $53,000 to win – the highest payout in event history.

The last eight races of the season pay $10,000 or more to win, including the World of Outlaws World Finals, which will pay $10,000 to win on Thursday and Friday, and $15,000 to win on Saturday.
