POINTS UPDATE: Gravel Rebounds, Haudenschild Closes on Top Five

Latest points update after Dirt Oval 66

Keep up with the chase for the 2024 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car championship.

LATEST RACES: Dirt Oval 66 (Oct. 18-19).

CURRENT POINTS LEADER: The pressure was on David Gravel heading to Dirt Oval 66 after Carson Macedo took a chunk out of his lead the week before, and Gravel stepped up to the challenge. A runner-up on Friday before a third on Saturday allowed Gravel and the Big Game Motorsports team to pad their lead with five races to go in 2024.

CLOSING THE GAP:

Giovanni Scelzi (5th): After a rough visit to Pennsylvania, Giovanni Scelzi and KCP Racing rebounded with a solid Illinois weekend. Finishes of seventh and sixth chopped the gap between himself and Michael “Buddy” Kofoid for fourth from 102 points down to 82.

Sheldon Haudenschild (6th): Back-to-back top five finishes defined a strong trip to the “Land of Lincoln” for Sheldon Haudenschild. A fifth-place result preceded a runner-up in the finale, and now the Stenhouse Jr.-Marshall Racing/NOS Energy Drink No. 17 sits within 46 points of a spot in the top five.
